Type locality: COLOMBIA: Cauca: Municipio de Inzá, Quebrada San Andrés, ca. 500 m, W Restaurante “La Portada”, San Andrés de Pisimbalá, 2°34'56"N, 76°2'36"W, 1750 m, 21.xii.1997, F. Muñoz-Q. et al.
Etymology: This species is named Chimarra cauca, used as noun in apposition, for the Department (regional area) in Colombia where the type specimens were collected.
