Type locality: "Ié Forestry Road, Kunigami, N. Okinawa Island"; Japan.
Holotype: NSMT 517SC0161H
Etymology: "from the Latinized spelling of the Okinawan dialect, "Yambaru", which means the terrace-like hills in the northern part of the Island of Okinawa" [Kurosawa, 1984: 78]
