Requests for administrator status

I have been working on wikimedia projects since March 2004 mostly on the English Wikipedia but various others from time to time. I have been an admin on the English Wikipedia since December 2004. I have noticed there is a fair bit of admin housework to be done on this wiki and would like to be able to help. I would also like to be able to use the rollback feature in future cases of mass vandalismGeni 18:50, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

At the moment, I am the only admin on wikispecies: not experienced with the technology aspects of the wiki-world and not familiar with the customs and conventions of the wikipedians. I appreciate any support and involvement in particular if other administrators can contribute skills I am lacking - thank you very much! Best, --[[User:Benedikt|Benedikt]

I am a primary contributor on en:'s and projects and articles.

On , I have been an admin since April 2004, by (according to ) the most overwhelming concensus in 2.5 years. I understand the responsibilities of being an admin. Currently I support admin efforts here on Species by tagging junk articles with {{delete}} so they can be found on Category:Candidates_for_speedy_deletion. - UtherSRG 12:59, 17 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I have made an UtherSRG an admin here. It might be good to nominate someone to be a bureaucrat so this wiki can handle admin requests itself rather than needing a steward. Angela 10:26, 9 Apr 2005 (UTC)

UtherSRG wrote having a few more admins wouldn't be a bad thing so I apply to be admin. I have been editing here since november 2004, and I am active as admin on sv.wikipedia since 2002. I would like to be an admin here, because I think this Wiki can use more admins to fight spam and vandalism. There have been several cases lately and the other Admins haven't been visiting (too busy elsewhere I suppose). All I can do now is reverting and adding {{delete}}s.

Hi there, I'm Lightdarkness from the English wikipedia. In the past few days, there has been an on going attack against Wikispecies. The vandals have attacked during various times in the day, and there hasn't been anyone to clean it up. I've been temporarily sysop'd three times in the past few days, and at times it's very hard to find a Steward to change the rights. My actions as an administrator here would be purely reverting vandalism. I am about to become a sysop on the english wikipedia. I've setup the vandalism channel #vandalism-en-species on freenode (We're still waiting for the bot to be operational) if anyone is interested. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page here, or on en wiki. Cheers. --Lightdarkness 06:30, 17 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I started editing the english wikipedia about 8 months ago and loved the idea of being able to edit an encyclopedia. I enjoy doing new page/recent change patrol and editing biology related articles. I am a biology student in Ontario, Canada and it is my passion in life. I just discovered wikispecies a week ago and i LOVE the idea behind it as it provides free access to information that was really only available freely to students and schools. I feel admin rights on wikispecies would help me keep vandalism down which will allow wikispecies to become a respected and trusted resource that students of all age levels can access and reference. If you have any questions and concerns feel free to ask me, I do hang out in #wikipedia on IRC (and will be joining #vandalism-en-species tonight as its a great idea!) if you perfer a real time conversation!

Howdy,
I have been an active member of Wikispecies since 22 April 2006 (my contributions). In that time I have tried to monitor Animalia for formatting continuity and have seemingly been the only one working on Culicidae, the mosquitoes, since 27 November 2005. In addition, I have given some attention to Araneae, alone with a few others (i.e., Trépas and Viki), and I wish to continue to do so. Both orders, and the taxa therein, do not get that much attention. I would like to be an administrator so I can continue to work with everyone on keeping the entire kingdom Animalia formatted correctly and to continue working on these neglected groups.
Sincerely,

I'd like to 'run' for adminship as well. I can do most things without that possibility, but I think it would be nice to delete a vandal page right away, instead of adding the delete template. Hello. I've been increasingly active on Wikispecies in the past month or so (usually in the form of interwiki maintenance[1], working on vernacular names[2], and adding images from Commons[3]), and I'm starting to run across more vandalism. It'd be handy if I could just delete junk articles myself, rather than tagging them.

As my userpage states, I'm an administrator on the English Wikipedia (where I'm the most active, with over 22,000 edits), Wikimedia Commons and Meta. I'm no stranger to being an admin, and I'm looking forward to helping out here even more than I currently do. Thanks. :) EVula // talk // 07:03, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi all. I wasn't really expecting to be asking for sysop access, but I figured it could be useful. I've only been here for a short time, but am heavily interested in wikispecies. It's my most edited Wikimedia project :). If I had sysop access it would be mostly used to deal with vandalism (deleting vandalism pages, etc) and possibly editing protected pages when needed instead of bugging the current admins. I've also made edits outside of wikispecies linking back in [4], [5]. I'm knowledgeable about the sysop tools; I'm an admin on a non-wikimedia project, cluenet, so I understand how they work. Even if I don't become an admin, I'll still be hanging out here helping out; I think wikispecies is a great project. Thanks, Mønobi 01:59, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I really didn't expect to be requesting sysop status here; I have my plate quite full (although, I am managing well) on other projects - I am an admin on 4 other WMF wikis (the most active of which being the English Wikipedia). However, despite the recent promotion of EVula, the clearing of backlogs, such as, say, the speedy deletion backlog, is often quite slow; couple of days back, there was a two day old request in there for example. Considering that I come on here easily every day, I think I could use my experience as an admin to be of use in keeping Wikispecies up to date. I also feel that I have come to understand the workings of Wikispecies, and it's qualities as a project, during my time spent here. Thank you for considering my candidacy. ---- Anonymous DissidentTalk 09:55, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WikiSpecies editors. Over my 1.5 months in WikiSpecies, I came across vandalisms and "garbage" articles. If I was admin, I could delete those articles that do not follow the page name convention and block those vandals that have received multiple warnings urging them to stop. Therefore, I ask the community to place your trust in me so that I can serve the community as an administrator. OhanaUnitedTalk page 01:23, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm again requesting adminship. I intend to help with the speedy deletion category, which can get clogged at sometimes. I previously had an rfa on Wikispecies in December (link) and it has been three months since. I know I haven't been really active, but I often seen vandalism while monitoring on IRC and it would better to just delete the page instead of tagging it. I also had a commons RfA which should probably be read over, although it doesn't pertain much to Wikispecies. (commons rfa is here). Thank you, Mønobi 20:23, 1 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  2. Yes, especially when he knows how to make bots and I'm asking him to create one to generate articles on WikiSpecies. Why didn't you tell us you were going for RfA on commons? We could have votestacked it for you :P OhanaUnitedTalk page 01:31, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
