Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! Author templates[edit]

Hello, and thank you for your edits. Please take a few minutes to read up on how to use the {{A}} and {{Aut}} author templates. The first one should be used when linking to author pages, and the second one should only be used when not linking to author pages. Common wiki links using square brackets [[ ]] should never be used in any of them. Best regards, and happy new year! –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 05:16, 1 January 2017 (UTC).[reply]

Also, a template like {{a|Legalov A.A.}} is always wrong, since it will render a red link to a non-existing page, like this:
Legalov A.A.
Instead the template should have the following syntax: {{a|Andrei Alexsandrovich Legalov|Legalov A.A.}} which looks the same on the page, but renders a blue link to a page that actually exists:
Legalov A.A.
If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to ask, since I'm here to help! –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 05:29, 1 January 2017 (UTC).[reply]
