Welcome to Wikispecies![edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! -- Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:44, 19 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Andy/Pigsonthewing,
thanks for the advice, expecially the links to templates and more. This one is also helpful: Help:Image Guidelines

Welcome, and how to use reference templates[edit]

Hello A doubt, and a friendly welcome to one more German contributor at Wikispecies! Thank you for your valuable edits of microbiological pages. On page Pantoea, I formatted the references according to our wikispecies standard (see also Help:Reference section). To make the citation of references easier, we use "Reference templates" for those references that may be used more than once, e.g. for several taxa or on several author pages. I will give you an example how to make them: On page Pantoea, type {{Brady et al., 2010}} in the line above the Brady reference and press the Preview-button. Then open the new link Template:Brady et al., 2010 and copy the text of the reference into it. Just add the code {{Subst:reftemp}} immediately after the text and safe your new Reference Template. It's really easy and safes a lot of time, because data need to be typed only once, the template can be added to Carrie L. Brady and further author pages. Hello Thiotrix,
thank you for the advice, I tried to follow, but I guess it's not the way it's supposed to be: Pantoea and Template:Brady et al., 2010. Can you fix it or point out what is wrong?

Supplement: Template:Brady et al., 2010 was already altered by Burmeister, is this the way one should create the template? --A doubt (talk) 22:56, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
the "tl" is used to demonstrate the template in a discussion, but not used in the template page, or in the taxon page where you will use the template. Regards, Burmeister (talk) 23:05, 23 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Burmeister, thanks for your help. I'm beginning to understand … I'll give it a go at the next reference on the Pantoea page.

Journal pages[edit]

I went ahead and created Current Microbiology page. Journal pages are based by print ISSN, and current trend is to redirect journal title and online ISSN to it. I put in basic pertinent information and weblink. I also linked it to Wikidata. This should help slightly. Neferkheperre (talk) 13:54, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Neferkheperre, thank you very much! I just looked at reference templates I created lately, most of them have the International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology as a source, but some of them are missing a link to the journal, can you please help with these? It's not urgent though.
Thank you in advance, --A doubt (talk) 15:16, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Template to add "Nomenclatural acts"[edit]

To answer your question whether there is a template to add a "Nomenclatural acts" section to reference templates: no, I don't think there is. There will probably never be one, since quite a lot of the publications doesn't include any nomenclatural acts nor present any new taxon names. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 23:03, 25 March 2018 (UTC).[reply]

Hello @Tommy Kronkvist:
thanks for reading my question in the summary section and answering here. I got the idea because of Template:Validation list no. 155 which I "found" and used as a template for creating new reference templates regarding other Validation lists. And the structure within seemed promising (chapter Nomenclatural acts and new names). It would be useful, because the Validation lists merely are published because of nomenclatural acts and present many new taxon names of Bacteria or other Prokaryotes.
