Type locality: SUNDALAND: East Nusa Tenggara Prov., Flores, Ruteng, Mt. Ranaka, sample 1, S08°37.321', E120°31.463', 1535 m.
Holotype: BZM ARC2195 (EMBL # LM655651), ♂, 13-IV-2012.
Etymology: This epithet is based on the weevil genus Syarbis to which it bears some superficial resemblance e.g. in the reduction of the onychium.
