(2008:77) list this genus as a synonym with "Amatula flava Medikus [=Solanum lycopersicum L.]" as its type, but fail to cite a typification authority or list the species under S. lycopersicum. According to Farr & Zijlstra (1996-), the type is Amatula rubra (L.) Medik.. That name is based off Solanum rubrum, a name proposed for rejection (Knapp & al., 2017) that probably belongs in S. sect. Solanum
