• Type locality: [Tanzania.] Monts Uluguru:
  • Goetze 175: im Bergwald unter großen Bäumen, bei 1200–1800 m ü. M.
  • Stuhlmann 9279: oberes Mgeta-Thal, im Rodungsgebiet bei 1300 m ü. M., an Bachrändern.

Notes

Grumilea platyphylla K.Schum. (1895; ≡ Psychotria goetzei var. platyphylla) had been published before Grumilea goetzei, but this priority for basionym was affected by the blocking name Psychotria platyphylla DC. (1830) = Palicourea berteroana (DC.) Borhidi
