- Type locality: SOUTH AFRICA, [Limpopo]: Transvaal: Soutpansberg E, 22.59S–30.15E, sifting.
- Holotype: DNMNH # 57, ♂, 15.iii.1973, Endrödy-Younga.
- Etymology: Named after the minute eyes (Lat. ocellifer = bearing small eyes).
