- Type locality: SOUTH AFRICA, [Western Cape]: S. Cape, Tsitsikama, Witelsbos, 34.03S–24.07E, sifted forest litter.
- Holotype: DNMNH ♂, 10.xii.1978, Endrödy-Younga.
- Etymology: The name refers to the eyelessness of this species (Lat. caecigenus = blind born).
