Auteurnamen
De naamsectie van een artikel over een taxon moet de auteur bevatten op wiens gezag het taxon zijn naam gekregen heeft.
Deze sectie moet gekoppeld worden aan het juiste Auteurnaam-artikel. We onderhouden onze artikelen in Wikispecies met een minimum aan informatie. Zorg ervoor dat er een corresponderend item bestaat op Wikidata.
Voor elk van de coauteurs moet er een aparte categorie ingevoegd worden.
Voor 3 coauteurs X, Y, Z zou je als volgt te werk gaan:

For technical reasons there should be no spacing following the colon punctuation mark. Please note that these categories should only be included on taxon pages, and always at the very bottom of a page.
Formaat van een autoriteitsartikel
Informatie in de hoofding
De eerste lijn moet de geboortedatum en, indien de auteur overleden is, de overlijdensdatum bevatten.
Dit is doorgaans de nationaliteit en specialiteit van de auteur.
De tweede lijn kan een erg korte beschrijving zijn ter verduidelijking.
Soms kan er meer verduidelijkende informatie bij komen, in het bijzonder als er een andere auteur met een gelijkaardige naam is.
Named taxa
This section shows information automatically fetched from the [[Category:X taxa]] mentioned above. This is done by adding the {{Taxa authored}} template, in the following way:

Nothing more, nothing less. The "Authored taxon names" section should not include an inline list of all the taxa named by an author. The reason for this is that some authors have named hundreds or in some cases even several thousands of taxa. Listing them all directly on the author pages would clutter up the information and make the pages hard to read, as well as manage. Instead the above code will automatically add a link to the category listing all of the taxon names by that particular author. Also, merging taxa pages together in author specific categories can help when searching.

Referentiesjablonen zijn in het bijzonder wenselijk als de referentie veel nieuwe taxa bevat en waarschijnlijk op meerdere taxonpagina's gebruikt kan worden.
Reference Templates are much preferred if the reference contains many new taxa and is likely to be usable on a number of taxon pages.
Koppelingen
Als er geen koppelingen zijn, kan het aangewezen zijn een Links-sectie met koppelingen toe te voegen aan een biografie of curriculum vitae.

Categorieën
Op zijn minst moet het artikel toegevoegd worden aan de categorie Taxon Authorities. Je kunt de auteur aan andere toepasselijke categorieën toevoegen.

Ingangen toevoegen aan Catalog:Taxon Authorities
Catalog:Taxon Authorities moet een lijst bevatten van alle taxonomische autoriteiten naar wie Wikispecies verwijst. Auteurs worden alfabetisch geordend volgens hun achternaam. Als ze een "officiële" afkorting hebben, wordt deze in het vet tussen haakjes opgenomen. We beschouwen IPNI als de officiële bron voor afkortingen van botanici.
Voeg de koppeling toe aan het artikel samen met eventuele data.
Referenties voor taxonomische auteurs
Er zijn heel wat bronnen voor informatie over taxonomische auteurs.
De Franstalige Wikipedia heeft een goed ontwikkeld portaal voor natuurgeschiedenis.
De meeste Wikipedia's hebben lijsten per auteurafkorting.

Er zijn ook een aantal internetbronnen.
- Voor botanici wordt IPNI beschouwd als de officiële bron voor afkortingen.
- Voor ornithologen bevat zoonomen heel wat informatie.
- Voor mariene biologen geeft de Biographical Etymology of Marine Organism Names (BEMON) veel achtergrondinformatie.
Autoriteitscontrole
Neem het {{Authority control}}-sjabloon op, zoals hierboven getoond. Dan zullen de waarden geïmporteerd worden uit Wikidata. Als er geen waarden gevonden worden, blijft het sjabloon onzichtbaar.
