Category:Wikipedia semi-protected templates

[edit]

Hello @Justin (koavf). In October 2022 you deleted the Category:Wikipedia semi-protected templates category. As you can see it's still populated by 31 templates – many of them very frequently used here, for example the {{Aut}}, {{Doi}} and {{Image}} templates. It's not strictly necessary, but I've been thinking of either removing the deleted category calls from those templates, or replacing them with either Category:Wikispecies semi-protected templates or Category:Semi-protected templates. First of all it would look better to use a "Wikispecies" template rather than a "Wikipedia" one, but if nothing else it also gets rid of the dead category link when visiting the templates' pages...

However, I can't seem to find where to delete or replace it from, so to speak. For example, I can't find the deleted category in the code for e.g. Template:Authority control, nor in that template's documentation page. Yet it is listed with a red link on the "Authority control" template page itself. Maybe it's hidden away in any of the many modules that are used by all of those templates? 🤔 Do you happen to know?

Ugh, I wish. I tried to figure this out and gave up trying to untangle the Byzantine rat's nest of modules. This is one of many reasons I hate importing. I'll do whatever you want to try to fix the mess, just ping me again on this thread. :/ —Justin (koavf)TCM 07:29, 21 January 2025 (UTC)Reply
These may help, maybe post-purging and after some caching issues, we can see?:
