- Type locality: Spain: Santa Cruz de Tenerife: La Palma, lava field of Volcán de San Juan, 2.5 km to the north-east Puerto de Naos.
- Holotype: CAUP, cryopreserved photobiont cells isolated from the specimen A104, deposited in the Culture Collection of Algae of the Charles University in Prague as the item TYPE-H 1018). Reference strain: CAUP H 1018.
