Welcome to Wikispecies![edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! -- Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:35, 4 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a lot for the welcome, Andy!

Peucaea mystacalis distribution map[edit]

Map that used to be shown on the Peucaea mystacalis page.
Map currently shown on the Peucaea humeralis page.

Hello Xavidvila!
You recently removed a distribution map from the Peucaea mystacalis page, claiming that it was "deleted because it belongs to Peucaea humeralis". I've noticed that there is in fact another map used on our Peucaea humeralis page, showing a different area of distribution than the one you removed. (You can view them both here, to the left.) Hence I must ask whether you have any verifiable sources regarding the two species' distribution areas? Are indeed one of the maps incorrect – or perhaps even both?

Also, if the map you removed from the Peucaea mystacalis page is wrong, could you please mark it up for renaming in Wikimedia Commons? That particular file is currently named Peucaea mystacalis map.svg in Wikimedia Commons, and should of course need to be renamed if it shows the distribution map of a totally different species.

Requesting file renames on Wikimedia Commons is done by added a template to the actual file page (the .svg link above), after which one of Commons' file movers will make the actual change. Information about the particular template can be found here: Commons:Template:Rename. Please also remember to add the verifiable sources and references to the renaming request, or else it will most likely not be renamed. Hi Tommy.
Excuse for my english, it's not my mother language.
I saw that the Peucaea mystacalis distribution map really belongs to Peucaea humeralis distribution map, thats the reason for deleting from the page.
In the meantime, I have drawn the good one based on IUCN map (https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/22721208/136936501) and upload & update in Commons, edited in Wikidata and unfortunately I forgot to update Wikispecies. I'm sorry.
So, the map for humeralis in humeralis Wikispecies page was already OK (based on IUCN web https://www.iucnredlist.org/species/22721216/136936903) and now for mystacalis is also OK, based on the same source.
I hope I explain enough and sorry for my mistakes.
Thanks for the advice, Tommy.
