Do not be alarmed by the "deletion" wording in the {{NSF}} template I added to some of the pages you created. It is just a way to include the pages in "Category: Non-standard taxon formatting" so that we know to add at least a "Taxonavigation" section in the future. Thanks. --Georgeryp 18:47, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello George, I'm administrator on the french Wikibooks and not afraid, but I'm new on Wikispecies and needing to know how the different templates work. I'm also a nature photographer having lots of pictures to introduce in the pages. Jean-Jacques MILAN 08:25, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's great! Most of the templates here can be divided into three groups: taxonavigation, format, and reference.
  • Taxonavigation Templates - these are probably the most important. The idea is that each template further down the taxon hierarchy contains the template immediately above it. This nesting makes it easy to change branching points in the tree. The best explaination is at Help:Project Templates.
  • Format Templates - examples of these are given at Help:Taxonavigation section and the {{aut}} template is shown at Help:Reference section. Also, be sure to note that the {{VN}} vernacular names template displays in the main body of the article page but interwikis display in the margin on the lower left (see Help:Vernacular names section).
  • Reference Templates - these contain the URLs to external references. They should probably be enhanced to include the text and date information given in the recommended citation formats at the various referenced websites, similar to how book and web citation templates on the Wikipedias have "title=", "work=", etc parameters. I should document their usage at Help:Reference section, but for now, they are listed among other templates at Category:Templates. Examples: ITIS, PLANTS, and GRINnomen.
There are also lesser used administrative templates. There's a good summary of most of what I mentioned at: Wikispecies:Templates. --Georgeryp 17:25, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

images policy[edit]

Please add only one picture per page. Merci. Lycaon 16:33, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bonjour,
Cette façon de faire ne me paraît pas très intelligente car pour décrire beaucoup d'espèces des vues multiples sont utiles.
Amitiés. Jean-Jacques
