Wikispecies is not Wikipedia[edit]

Hello Hazelcscott, and thank you for your contributions. While your edits to Rhynchotus rufescens were quite informative, please note that Wikispecies is not Wikipedia. Instead it is mainly aimed at the needs of scientific users, rather than general users. The overall purpose of Wikispecies is to present the biological classification, nomenclature and taxonomy of all of the world's taxa, and in a very systematic manner. In doing so there is no need for general or narrative information regarding species or other taxa, and therefore you're edits to the Rhynchotus rufescens article have been reverted. No worries though: that kind of text and information is instead very much appreciated when contributing to Wikipedia, which is a much more general-purpose encyclopedia than Wikispecies.

Lastly, I want to clearly point out that of course you're welcome to contribute to Wikispecies again – we all help out trying to make it great! – but it is important to be aware of What Wikispecies is not. That said, the rules and conventions around here are actually not that complicated. I hope you like the place and decide to stay!
