Autopatrolled rights[edit]

Dear DCDuring, You have been granted autopatrolled user rights, which may be granted to experienced Wikispecies users who have demonstrated an understanding of Wikispecies policies and guidelines. In addition to what registered users can do, autopatrollers can have one's own edits automatically marked as patrolled (autopatrol). The autopatrol user right is intended to reduce the workload of new page patrollers and causes pages created by autopatrolled users to be automatically marked as patrolled. For more information, read Wikispecies:Autopatrollers.

This user has autopatrolled rights on Wikispecies. (verify)

You may as autopatroller use the autopatroller user box on your user page. Copy and paste the following code on your user page:

{{User Autopatroller}}

If you have a Meta-Wiki user page, you can put the Wikispecies autopatrolled user box for Meta on your Meta-Wiki user page.

Theres always a need of patrolling files edited by unregistered users, and if you think you have a good understanding of Wikispecies policies and guidelines and want to help out with patrolling, you can request patrol rights at Patroller.Dan Koehl (talk) 00:03, 4 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I'm not regular enough here. I have been noticing basic entry formatting problems more often lately. I'll work on those first.
A lot of what I do at Wiktionary is on taxonomic names. Wiktionary likes to have etymologies, gender information, and links to external sources, but our priorities are to have common species and genera, not complete coverage. We also try to cover some common obsolete names at all taxonomic ranks and some less formal names or names that have no single accepted definition. DCDuring (talk) 01:16, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Macroglossusinae[edit]

Hi! I reverted your edition, the Pteropodidae subfamilial arragement is based on Almeida, Simmons, & Giannni (2020), Macroglossusinae is a new name proposed to remove homonym, since Macroglossinae Harris, 1839 has priority over Macroglossinae Gray, 1866. Regards, Burmeister (talk) 23:59, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I wish them lots of luck with the proposal and with the other proposed malformed subfamily name too. I just might be a little premature to jump on their proposal. DCDuring (talk) 00:04, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For the etymology see page 14, "using the entire genus name Macroglossus as valid stem and adding the suffix -inae, again following recommendation 29A of the Code", they follow ICZN recommendation. "beware of ignorant reverters; try looking it up" Really? I edited based on valid and accepted references, I searched before editing, and I am not an ignorant of nomenclature and taxonomy issues. You're right. I'm wrong. DCDuring (talk) 00:13, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
