Lectotype: ZMB-MAM 411, subadult indet., skin and skull, collected by F. Sellow. [designated by Andersen (1908: 220)]

Type locality: “St. Paulo, in Brasilien”, “Cayenne” and a third place not designated; restricted to “St. Paulo, in Brasilien” by lectotype designation by Andersen (1908: 220), corrected to “eastern Brazil” by Garbino & Nogueira (2017: 178).
