Poaceae has been extensively reviewed since the original entries on Wikispecies. This has resulted in the loss, as synonyms, of a few genera, but considerable numbers of species, sub-species, varieties and the like. In addition there has been accepted revisions at the subfamily, tribal and subtribal levels. The re-circumscriptions have largely been accepted and are now accessible through sources such as; GrassBase, World Checklist of Selected Plant Families and Grassworld.
The structure of the site has been now been largely updated to include the currently accepted; sub-families, tribes, sub-tribes, genera and species. However, the details for many species have yet to be updated or indeed are lacking.

However, some words of caution. GrassBase is not being frequently updated and can be less up to date compared to Grass World, but is valuable for descriptions. Grass World is evolving into a valuable on line source for current nomenclature - see also Poaceae on Stevens et al. APW. The The World Check List of Selected Plant Families is kept reasonably up to date and can be used with some confidence for genera and species, but the Plant List can be out of date and is not as yet authoritative, it needs to used with caution. See also Tropicos and please do check names with the International Plant Name Index and of course, search for and consult peer reviewed journals. Andyboorman (talk) 18:57, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
