This taxon page currently is taxonomic nonsense featuring two genera one of which appears elsewhere as a synonymy of Iris s.l.. It will be soon restructured without loosing information. The proposals underpinning the basis for the recent edits are correct given the evidence in Crespo et al. (2015), but have little or no acceptance in the wider botanic community. Corrections made and conservative position maintained pending wider consensus of proposals by Crespo et al. (2015), if indeed this emerges. Andyboorman (talk) 18:25, 7 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Migrated from Taxon Page to prevent clutter. Note: The current consensus maintained by Kew Gardens and other major botanic authorities is to follow the well known Iridaceae authority C.A. Wilson and keep with Iris s.l.. Therefore, WS will continue with its present conservative position. The world-known expert of Iridaceae G. Rodionenko (among other experts of the group) however accepted Cryptobasis and many other segregates at the generic rank. See Iris Discussion Page. In order to maintain consistency the synonymy here will follow that found on Kew Garden's WCSP internet site.
