This circumscription follows APG IV and merges all genera from Greyiaceae, Melianthaceae and Vivianiaceae under Francoaceae s.l.. The broader circumscription is recommended so that no matter which relationship proves to be the most robust the family name recognised does not change. Palazzesi et al., (2012) favours five families on phylogenetic grounds, whereas Sytsma et al., (2014) question their conclusions and favour two. The five families are maintained here as reference but Greyiaceae, Melianthaceae and Vivianiaceae redirect to Francoaceae. Andyboorman (talk) 17:51, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
