    • Type locality: Ecuador: Esmeraldas Province, Reserva Río Canandé, 2 May 2018, Elevation 507m. 0°31′35″N 79°10′06″W / 0.5263°N 79.1682°W / 0.5263; -79.1682.
    • Holotype: Worker, MEPN casent0875770
    • Etymology: Strumigenys ayersthe is the first species to have a non-binary gender-neutral binomial name, in honor of human rights activist Jeremy Ayers' activism.
