- Type locality: [presumed: Rovinj, Croatia] (isolated from a seawater aquarium at Univ.of Mainz (Germany) that contained marine animals from Adria (Rovinj), former Yugoslavia.)
- Holotype: marine/brackish environment. Sammlung von Algenkulturen, Univ. of Gottingen, Germany material of strain SAG 55.87, cryopreerved.
- Iconotype: fig. 2.8.
