Neanotis rheedei (Wight & Arn.) W.H.Lewis, Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 53: 40 (1966)

  • Basionym
    • Hedyotis rheedei Wight & Arn. in R.Wight, Cat. Ind. Pl.: 75 (24 September 1834); Prodr. Fl. Ind. Orient. 1: 409 (10 October 1834)
  • Homotypic
    • Anotis rheedei (Wight & Arn.) Hook.f., Fl. Brit. India 3: 73 (1880)
    • Anotis rheedei (Wight & Arn.) Benth. & Hook.f. ex B.D.Jacks., Index. Kew 1: 142 (1893)
  • Heterotypic
    • Hedyotis racemosa Dennst. Schlüssel Hortus Malab.: 36 (1818), nom. nud.; not accepted by Govaerts (2003) [cited as Neanotis rheedei]
    • Hedyotis capillipes Schltdl. ex Hook.f., Fl. Brit. India 3: 73 (1880), pro syn.

Although Lewis attributes basionym authority to Wallich (Cat. no. 1294 (1829), nom. nud.), the true specimen collector is Wight (note that the correct Wallich's no. 1294 specimen is Campanula dehiscens). Hedyotis latifolia Dalzell, Hooker's J. Bot. Kew Gard. Misc. 2: 133 (1850), nom. illeg., which Hooker and Lewis include, is now considered synonymous with Neanotis latifolia Deb & Ratna Dutta.
