  • Homotypic
    • Sarcocaulon (DC.) Sweet, Hortus Brit. 73. (1827) separate taxon page available, reflecting alternate taxonomic opinion.

Note:[edit]

The type species Monsonia burmannii DC., is sometimes regarded as illegitimate. The name is legitimate as a nom. nov. for Geranium spinosum Burm.f. as Monsonia spinosa had been used previously by L'Hérier (1792). However, it has not been validly published as this name and so still must be regarded as illegitimate or at best an unplaced name. The taxon page is retained but without references.
