  • Holotype: USNM 173854, adult ♂, body in alcohol with skull removed, collected by A. Busck on 14 April 1911.
  • Type locality: “in cave on Chilibrillo River, Panama”.

Synonyms[edit]

  • Choeronycteris mexicana ponsi Pirlot, 1967: 269 [synonymised by Griffiths & Gardner (2008: 252)]
    • Syntypes: Pirlot private collection, ♂ and ♀. [lost]
    • Type locality: “Kasmera”, Zulia, Venezuela.
