- Type locality: Valu Fa Ridge, Lau Basin, SW Pacific, 22° 32' S, 176° 43' W (-22.533333°, -176.71666)
- Paratypes: USNM 138151; NHMUK 1991.4
- Etymology: from Latin columna (pillar) referring to the column-like appearance of the tube.
