Holotype: FMNH 26814, adult ♂, skin and skull.

Type locality: “Caraguatay, Rio Parana, 100 miles south of Rio Iguassu, Misiones, Argentina”, restricted by Pardiñas et al. (2007) to Puerto Caraguatay (26.616°S, 54.766°W), Misiones, Argentina, although the holotype was probably obtained at the nearby locality Puerto Benson (Pardiñas et al. 2008).

Combinations[edit]

  • Thomasomys pictipes Osgood, 1933: 11 [original combination]
  • Wildredomys pictipes: Musser & Carleton, 1993: 752 [name combination]
  • Juliomys pictipes: González, 2000: 3 [name combination]
