• Type locality: in a lake, Windermere, Cumbria, England.
• Holotype: Cryopreserved material from the authentic strain CCAP 222/2D, Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa, Oban, Scotland.
• Isotype: Air-dried, as well as formaldehyde-fixed, samples of strain CCAP 222/2D, Botanical Museum at Berlin-Dahlem B40 0040660.
