• Typus: E.P. Killip 11765 (in fruit, 5–10 October 1922; Holotypus: US [​US00129957 (1140731)^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}]; ⧼Isotypi⧽: F [​V0069089F (579941)^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}], GH 00375785^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}, NY [​NY00131328^{(GBIF, JSTOR)}]).
• Type locality: Colombia. Dept. El Valle: Buenaventura, at sea level, in forest.

Synonymy

• Taylor (2012) and Delprete & Cortés-B. (2015) treated Faramea jefensis Dwyer & M.V.Hayden (type collected from Panama) as a synonym of F. calophylla, but Taylor (2017) reinstates the former name and synonymizes F. macrura Standl. instead.
