- Type locality: "Coral Gardens", Heron Island, Capricorn Group, southern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia.
- Holotype: G.T. Kraft, C.O'Brien & R.W. Ricker; 13 Nov. 1983; on dead Acrophora debris and large pieces of shellgrit at the base of the reef wall, 17-18 m depth; MELU; A45805 [GBR-15550] .
