- Type locality: Wistari Reef, Capricorn Group, southern Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia.
- Holotype: G.T. Kraft, C.O'Brien & R.W. Ricker; 18 Mar. 1985; low creeping fronds on coral shards at the base of the E. reef slope, 27-30 m; MELU; GBR-16122.
