Diagnosis: Chrysothricis flavovirentis similis sed acidum diffractaicum deficienti differt.

Type: U.S.A. NORTH CAROLINA. Camden Co.: Dismal Swamp State Park, Dismal Swamp Natural Area, S of Kim Saunders Ditch at 5 mile marker, Atlantic White Cypress Chamaecyparis thyoides peatland with sparse hardwoods (Acer, Magnolia, Nyssa), 10.xii.2009, on Chamaecyparis thyoides bark, J.C. Lendemer 20207 & S. Williams (NY, holotype; isotypes to be distributed as Lichenes East. N. Amer. Exs. VIII: 373).

Etymology: The epithet chamaecyparicola denotes the strong affinity of the species for bark of the Atlantic White Cypress (Chamaecyparis thyoides (L.) Britton et al.).

Chemistry: Rhizocarpic acid. Spot tests: K-, KC-, C-, P-, UV+ orange.

Ecology and Distribution: Chrysothrix chamaecyparicola is a distinctive member of the lichen biota of conifer swamps in temperate and sub-tropical eastern North America.
