  • Type locality and horizon: GSC locality C-26653, UTM zone 15X, 483700E, 7931750N, north-eastern Boothia Peninsula, Arctic Canada; Somerset Island Formation, upper Silurian or Lower Devonian.

Etymology: Named after Dr R. Thorsteinsson, Calgary, Geological Survey of Canada.
