• Paratypes: MZB 10710 (7), ZRC 49159 (8), ZRC 49160 (3)
• Type locality: Pulau Natuna Besar (Indonesia, Natuna Archipelago): blackwater tributary of Sungai Sekeram; 3°50'28.6"N 108°03'47.1"E.
• Etymology: The latin name aurigans (with gold iridescence) refers to the iridescent golden scales on the body and belly of the present species.
