- Holotype: QM G25001, collected by M. Pichon, A. Birtles, and P. Arnold, ‘Cidaris I’ expedition, on 11 May 1986.
- Type locality: “Continental slope, off Townsville, Queensland, Australia, vicinity of Flinders Reefs, 17°22'099" S, 147°48'27" E, 1 187-1210m depth, stn 24.3”.
