Formatting[edit]

Salut Thorgal, Est-ce que se serait possible de suivre le structure standard pour formatter les genres et les espèces? Genera should be in italics and references preferably under their own header. See Recentchanges and specifically Gordonia hirsuta for guidance. Merci. Lycaon 07:22, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Salut Lycaon. Je suis nouveau, mais je ferai attention désormais. Merci pour tes conseils. Thorgal 12:35, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't forget to put the Genus in italics. Thanks. Lycaon 22:09, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Templates[edit]

Merci pour les 'templates'. One small detail, though: you should use   in the second part of the template (as I did in {{spp}}) to avoid splitting of the name. Keep up the good job. Lycaon 06:14, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

subspecies[edit]

Allez-y. Please do. Lycaon 09:53, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vernacular names[edit]

I think this is a matter which has been raised several times on Wikispecies:Village Pump and its archives. It has sometimes been suggested that there should be separate "Vernacular names" and "Interwiki" sections but I think no decision has been made. You could try raising it on the Village Pump again.--Keith Edkins (Talk) 20:46, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see you are making changes to Vernacular names. I do not totally agree with this change. Usually we try to come to an agreement before making major changes here. Please see Wikispecies:Village Pump#Interwikis, Vernacular names, Common Names Thanks, Open2universe 12:58, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trib..[edit]

It is Tribus both singular and plural. Strictly the Latin plural is tribūs with a long 'u' but we do not show this distinction.--Keith Edkins (Talk) 10:54, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

More on vernacular names[edit]

I agree that vernacular names are important to have. I disagree with your current format. User talk:Ucucha has also made comments Wikispecies:Village_pump#Interwikis, Vernacular_names, Common_Names. Please have patience for a few more comments. Thank you. Open2universe 23:40, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:ssp[edit]

I have changed this so it works the same as Template:sp, including the space and hyphen at the end, and created Template:ssplast for the last entry in the list without the hyphen. I will work though the existing usages and make the necessary changes.--Keith Edkins (Talk) 06:56, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lindera (Tineidae)[edit]

What authority are you reading which gives this as a junior synonym of Setomorpha? It is given as a valid Genus in the NHM Global Taxonomic Database of Tineidae[1] (G. Robinson 2001); Markku Savela lists it[2]; and Google finds 77 entries for the type species as Lindera tessellatella and none as Setomorpha tessellatella.--Keith Edkins (Talk) 13:51, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I think there may be a continuing dispute between authors, but for the moment I will remove the homonym indicators to match your change to Setomorphinae.--14:50, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Orchidées[edit]

Bonjour Cristophe

Merci pour les changements sur les pages des orchidées !

(Je comprends quelque français.)

Hamadryas[edit]

I think you are not quite right here. Hamadryas Hübner is not in the Cosmopterigidae, although one site[3] says it is - I am sure this is a mistake. Look on the NHM site[4] and you will find the only available genus Hamadryas is Hamadryas Hübner, 1806. Samml. exot. Schmett. 1 : pl. [47], (Nymphalidae) type species Papilio amphinome Linnaeus. Other uses of the name are all invalid:

  • Hamadryas Hübner, 1806. Tentamen determinationis digestionis[1]. (Nymphalidae: Papilio io) - the ICZN has ruled this work invalid for nomenclatural purposes. Effectively replaced by Inachis Hübner, 1819 which has the same type species.
  • Hamadryas Boisduval, 1832 (Nymphalidae: Papilio zoilus) is replaced by Tellervo Kirby, 1894.
  • Hamadryas Clemens, 1864 (Cosmopterigidae) is replaced by Euclemensia Grote, 1878.

- as well as attempted uses outside Lepidoptera (see Nomenclator Zoologicus [5]):

  • Hamadryas Cantor, 1838 (Reptilia: Elapidae) replaced by Ophiophagus Günther, 1864
  • Hamadryas Lesson, 1840 (Mammalia) now synonymised to Papio Erxleben, 1777
  • Hamadryas Albers, 1850 (Mollusca) - I cannot trace what has happened to this.

In summary, the only valid animal Hamadryas is Hamadryas Hübner, 1806 in the Nymphalidae. My page Hamadryas was wrong in giving Hamadryas Boisduval, 1832 as valid - I have corrected it.--Keith Edkins (Talk) 18:06, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice work, guys! I just fixed the synonymy/homonymy issues of and related to en:Euclemensia woodiella, and the Hamadryas homonymy list you built saved me half an hour's research work! Sweet! 213.168.123.49 18:39, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Acanthophlebia[edit]

Try this reference: Clarkeophlebia nom. nov., a replacement name for the genus Acanthophlebia Clarke, 1986 (Lepidoptera, Gelechioidea) non Towns, 1983.[6]. You can only read the abstract, but I think it is enough.--Keith Edkins (Talk) 08:06, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
