Welcome to Wikispecies![edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! -- Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:30, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vernacular names[edit]

Dear Thomas, Thank for your cooperation and editions. Time ago it was discussed and decided that only one vernacular name per language would be added, so please review your editions in that sense. Kindly. Hector Bottai (talk) 12:11, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Hector,
I wasn't aware of this decision. German is used in Austria and Switzerland too, often there are local variations in naming. Nevertheless, I will revert my edits where necessary. regards, --Thomasgl (talk) 13:24, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Understand Thomas, Spanish is used in dozens of countries, every one have a different VN. We adopt the "official" of the academy, not always the more adequate. In that discussion, many colleagues were against including VN in Wikispecies. Thanks for your comprehension. Cheers. Hector Bottai (talk) 17:10, 14 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
