Hello, I am Robert W. Blanton, a citizen avocational taxonomist from Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA.
I have been interested in taxonomy for over thirty years but now that I am retired, can devote more time to the pursuit of my avocation. I have been dismayed that scientists, being such methodical and exacting individuals, have not yet been able to produce a viable, up-to-date website listing all known valid genera and species worldwide. Several very good websites do exist, especialy Catologue of Life, but each have their deficiencies. (e.g. Col has the genus Musca listed 28 times with all apecies distributed among the 28 diffenent entries!) Having discovered Wikispecies and its allowing individual users to make contributions, I believe that Wikispecies has the potential to be the premier website for worldwide taxonomic information. It has the advantage of being immediately up-to-date and quickly correcting confusing or erroneous data.
I have made numerous addtions of familiae and genera since Nov. 2018 under the user name Nytexcome. But when I went to set up a user page under this name, found that it had been deleted and considered vandalism. I assure everyone here that I am a conscientious contributor (as can be demonstrated by my numerous edits) hoping to make Wikispecies a spectacular success. Can' t set up user page[edit]
I tried to set up a user page containing the exact information that is shown here, but when I clicked on the publish page link, got the following message:
Error: This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your action was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: Global "ntsamr"-pattern spambot filter
If anyone can explain why this simple statement of who I am, is deemed to be harmful, please let me know.
- Hello Rwblanton/Nytexcome, the Nytexcome userpage had been vandalized by an IP, before you made any entry there, and was deleted by administrator @Neferkheperre:. - I undeleted it. Seems somebody set it up with gibberish, and someone else marked it for speedy deletion. As gibberish was only content, I went along with deletion. Hope this helps, we need more taxonomists. Neferkheperre (talk) 13:38, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Neferkheperre and Thiotrix: I can't seem to find any page history for the page User:Rwblanton. There's no "View history" link on the user page (which should link to Revision history of "User:Rwblanton") and the public logs only show that the user account was created and the actual Abuse filter log triggered by Rwblanton himself.
