[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Minor correction on your edits

[edit]

So when adding species or genera etc, for the last one you need to add splast instead of sp, for example the page you edited:
{{sp|T|epilia|biluna}} {{sp|T|epilia|dodala}} {{sp|T|epilia|fastidiosa}} {{splast|T|epilia|joanna}}

Hi Scott,
Thanks I previously noticed and understood that, except that I forgot to reintroduce the last after my modifications. It is clear.
Good that you communicate with me so that I can understand and correct my errors. Dherbin (talk) 18:48, 10 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Scott,
A question: A good number of Mimallonidae have been entered under Cicinnus genus. Now transferred to Gonogramma. I tried to proceed with one species: Cicinnus bahamensis => Gonogramma bahamensis. I edited Cicinnus genus and removed bahamensis. I edited Gonogramma genus and added bahamensis. I did not find a proper way to easily change the page cicinnus bahamensis in Gonogramma bahamensis. I had to create a new page Gonogramma bahamensis, did a copy of what was in Cicinnus bahamensis. But I do not find this elegant! and there is a Cicinnus bahamensis still existing in the background. Can you help and tell how I could do thsi properly?

Yeah to do that you need to move the page, before you edit it. Your changing the mainspace name the name at the top of the page and in its url.
At the top of the screen is the search box to its left you will have either a Move option or a dropdown saying more, under which you will find move. While on the page you want to move select move in the popup give the new mainspace name, you will also have to give a reason, say yes to leaving a redirect then move the page. After that you can edit the page to fix names etc.
You wont be able to move the one you just mentioned now as you created a new page and regular users cannot overwrite a page that has content nor delete pages so I will have to fix this one. Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 16:09, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok fixed these two and a couple of your templates for the tribe. Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 16:20, 14 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for fixing. I will look in details in your response and see if I understand correctly and try with a new transfer from Cicinnus to Gonogramma.

Mistake in genus name

[edit]

I have two questions for which I need help: 1) I made a mistake by adding a genus Laguerellus in Ctenuchina, meanwhile it is actually Laguerrellus (with 2 R). I have now corrected I think everything by transferring the related species to the right genus name, etc... But I apparently cannot delete the entries I made with only one "r" in the genus. These entries for the genus and the species are now empty of text, but they remain somewhere in the system in the back. Somebody could delete these entries with Laguerellus (with only one r)??? 2) When entering in Ctenuchina the genus Centronia, I found that this genus was already in Wikispecies for some plants (Melastomaceae): Centronia Hübner, 1818 exists for Ctenuchina Centronia D.Don, 1823 exists in Melastomaceae Therefore it would appear to me that the Melastomaceae genus would be invalid and should be renamed. If it was for Ctenuchina, I would know who to contact to issue a replacement name in literature, but for the plants, Melastomaceae, I do not know who. Any advice on how to proceed? Best, Daniel Dherbin (talk) 09:22, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

per your request on my user page I have handled the Centronia issue and left you a reply there. I have also deleted the Laguerellus typo page. In future though if you create a page erroneously rather than blamking the page just request it for speedy delete by adding the tag {{delete}} to the page this will list it for speedy deletion and an admin can then handle it for you. Suggestion when typing about issues any page names, eg a genus name write them like this ''[[Centronia]]'' which will make it a link like this Centronia making it easier for admins to get to the pages. Thanks a lot Scott

Scott,
I have another query. I realized a mistake in a species name. The name Dysschema boisduvalii was entered, but it is actually Dysschema boisduvallii (with two "l"" and two "i"). I realized that when reading the publication from Lamas, 2017, where he makes a specific topic on this common mistake among various authors.
I have corrected into the text related to the species, but I do not know how to modify the title of the page so that is it Dysschema boisduvallii.
Could you tell me how I could modify that? Or if I cannot with my access rights, could you make this change for me?
Best,
Daniel, Dherbin (talk) 17:19, 1 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
