Name[edit]

Trimma trioculatum Winterbottom et al., 2015

  • Holotype: ROM 98816.
  • Paratypes: MZB 22715 (15); ROM 95249 (13), 93648 (6), 95778 (2); WAM P.33043.001 (15), P.33357.007 (13).

Type locality: Indonesia, West Papua, Cendrawasih Bay, Mark's Delite, about 45 kms E of Pulau Roon, (02°25.833'S, 134°59.366'E), 20 m depth.

Etymology: The name is derived from tri (three), and oculatus (having eyes) in reference to the extra apparent eye formed by the dark ocellated spot in the first dorsal fin.
