Life habit: Lichenicolous fungus (parasite on living lichens)

Hosts: On apothecial margins of Niebla cephalota and Niebla homalea.

Locations: Very common in California (USA) and in Baja California (Mexico).

Type: California. Monterey Co.: SSW of Carmel, Point Lobos State Reserve, Bird Island Trail, 121o56'W, 36o28'N, 25 m, on Niebla cephalota, 23. vii. 2002; Holotype BR, Van den Boom 29018.

Etymology: Growing on Niebla (= Vermilacinia).

Basidiomata: Indistinct, inducing the formation of large convex, subspherical or elongate to bullate galls.
