- Holotype: UMMZ 75446, adult ♂, collected by L.C. Stuart on 4 June 1933.
- Type locality: “Ixpuc Aguada, north of La Libertad, El Peten, Guatemala”.

- Type locality: “Subirana Valley, 2800 feet altitude, [Department of] Yoro, Honduras”.
- Hyla axillamembrana Shannon & Werler, 1955: 383 [synonymised by Duellman (1960: 62)]
- Holotype: UIMNH 67059 (formerly F.A. Shannon 4083), adult ♂, collected by J. Werler and J. Reid on 8 February 1953.
- Type locality: “from an elevation of about 1400 feet 5 mi. S Lake Catemaco on the San Andres Tuxtla-Minatitlan road”, Veracruz, Mexico.
