It is suggested that no changes are made on the taxon page until botanists have had a chance to assess to proposals put forward by Bruyns et al. (2017), as this represents a major paradigm shift. Andyboorman (talk) 19:01, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
- If the proposals put forward by Bruyns et al. (2017, 2018) are accepted then all the highly succulent stapeliad genera above will be subsumed into an expanded 717 species Ceropegia s.l.. This has a number of advantages including; rendering Ceropegia monophyletic, making most natural nothogenera obsolete and stabilising nomenclature. There are many combinations yet to be satisfactorily placed in Ceropegia s.l. and as such WCSP does not even partially recognise its generic synonymy and WS will have to adopt a conservative approach.
- Changes have not reached consensus, therefore Ceropegia s.s. remains pending further work and the red links need work and other genera updated. Andyboorman (talk) 20:20, 25 September 2021 (UTC) .

In addition, recent combinations in Brachystelma are unplaced in Govaerts et al. (2021) Andyboorman (talk) 10:01, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
