Spermacoceae comprises the former tribes Hedyotideae, Knoxieae and Spermacoceae sensu stricto according to http://www.br.fgov.be/SCIENCE/PROJECTS/rubiaceae.html#how_many --Open2universe 02:21, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This source is partially incorrect as Knoxieae is now accepted. Meanwhile source above goes to 404, but see refs on taxon page and elsewhere in subfamily. Andyboorman (talk) 21:47, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Generic uncertainty is still common in this tribe. A good example is Spermacoce WCSP and Borreria Flora do Brasil, but their synonymy is still uncertain and the later also appears frequently in Scholar searches. In addition, there are problems with species circumscription in these genera due to the poor publication of equivalents. Andyboorman (talk) 11:48, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
