Robbins (in Lamas et al, 2004) creates numerous synonymys in this Section, albeit without detailed substantiation as to why they are synonymous. Johnson, 1992 asserts that Rhamma, Paralustrus, Pontirama and Shapiroana form a monophyletic group, but erects or retains them as valid genera. Consequently Robbins synonymises them. Balint & Wojtusiak, 2002, argue for the separation of tomaszpyrczi, emeraldina, hybla and cassidyi, but Robbins lumps them all under hybla. As ever, there are splitters and lumpers.

When someone comes to create pages for the individual species, they will have to decide how to deal with these two approaches. For now, I have added these 3 species (or synonyms of hybla) to the list of species so that they are not completely overlooked. Accassidy 17:58, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
