Poecilostola Chaudoir, 1871 (the correct original spelling, verified in the original description cited below, p. 64) appears to be a junior homonym of Poecilostola Schiner, 1863 (Diptera), Poecilostola Stål, 1870 (Hemiptera), or both. I cannot locate a replacement name. Zoological Record has no entry for Poecilostota. - MKOliver (talk) 17:44, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

@MKOliver: Poecilostola is in Zoological Record vol. 8, p. 236, and the index actually points out the homonymy. Recent work seem to agree the genus needs studying to figure out whether it's a separate (sub)genus at all, which probably explains why no one has bothered publishing a new name.
