- You may be right, but the name is accepted by Catalog of Life, 2017 Annual Checklist. Instead CoL lists Platycerus depressus LeConte, 1850 and Platycerus helopioides Dejean, 1837 as a synonyms of Platycerus piceus (Kirby, 1837): Platycerus piceus (Kirby, 1837) (accepted name). –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 01:00, 15 September 2017 (UTC).
