Phylogenetically relationships within Nolinoideae are poorly resolved, although major clades seem to correspond largely with the tribes many genera would be incertae sedis. The subfamily is well supported as being monophyletic. Some generic limits need resolution e.g. Dracaena can be circumscribed to include most of Pleomele and Sanseviera, with Pleomele from Hawaii circumscribed as Chrysodracon (Stevens et al., 2015). Perhaps tribes should be removed whilst analysis is ongoing? For reference the commonly accepted tribes are; Convallarieae, Dracaeneae, Nolineae, Ophiopogoneae, Polygonateae and Rusceae (Conran and Tamura, 1998).
