Vernacular names[edit]

I see that this article is listed as an ideal example of a species article. Being new to Wikispecies, I wanted to ask if the style here in subject headings is the same as on Wikipedia. If so, shouldn't the heading "Vernacular Names" be "Vernacular names"?

There was discussion of this in the Village Pump archives, but I couldn't find a clear answer. Thanks! — Twisted86 17:53, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You might be right that the normal way to use would be 'Vernacular names'. You will find both versions though on Wikispecies, unfortunately. But on the other hand you can think of it like this: movies, books, newspaper articles can write their titles with capitals as pleased. So perhaps this is some freedom of the author.
I hope we can reach some consensus though. And the proper version for me would be Vernacular names --Kempm 19:09, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ideal Example[edit]

How can this species page be the "ideal example" when it lacks a synonymy and other sections. In addition, because this page has "Vernacular Names" instead of "Interwikis" does that mean "Vernacular Names" is what we should be using? I am not sure there has been enough effort in developing an "ideal example," yet... Totipotent 00:00, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't this is "ideal" anymore. It lacks also a image and so one. But maybe it's ideal for reference? – linnea (talk) 17:30, 26 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hey guys. Sorry Totipotent I missed your question when you asked it. The answer is that we didn't make a decision on whether to use Vernacular names or Interwikis, therefore both are still valid. However thanks to Linnea we have the interwiki links moved to the sidebar now, and therefore I think the section would make more sense if it was called Vernacular names. There's a discussion about this in: Help talk:Vernacular names section.
As for being an ideal page... This page doesn't have a synonyms section because there aren't any :) And all the available images are copyrighted. This species is only known from it's type specimen, so someone has to visit the Spanish museum and make a photo. But I agree: we can probably find a better example of a page that has every section? --Kempm 10:05, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
